A fracture is a break in the bone caused by trauma or stress.  In Road traffic accidents, the most common fractures usually involve the extremities. Things To Know
1. Usually fracture takes 6-12 weeks to heal. Some fractures (severely broken bone ,broken bone with loss of skin, muscles can take more than a year and multiple operations)
2. POP (Plaster of Paris) should not become wet(please apply plastic cover when using toilet)
3. POP needs to be changed or bandage needs to be tightened once it becomes loose or dirty
4. If POP becomes very tight at home or if pain becomes severe, patient should come to hospital immediately
5. Please come for regular follow up and do regular exercises and physiotherapy for the fracture to heal faster and to regain the function faster
6. Smoking ,tobaccouse ,NSAIDs ,steroiduse –delays fracture healing or prevent fracture healing(please avoid these things)

Things To Know
1. If POP becomes tight or child cries with lot of pain ,bring the child to hospital immediately
2. Please keep POP clean and dry
3. Do not put hairpin ,pencil ,scale or other things inside the POP
4. Fracture in children heal very fast within 3-6 weeks
5. Do not massage with oil or rub forcefully once child gets injured ,you can apply ICE packs

1. 1. Pain due to mild arthritis needs only physiotherapy ,muscle strengthening and stretching exercise ,avoiding sitting cross legged on the floor ,avoiding climbing stairs and squatting
2. Sometime ,you may need intra-articular injection (Injection given into the joint),either steroid or hyaluronic acid (oil like liquid)
3. PRP and stem cells are also used for injecting into the joint but results are not 100% guaranteed
4. For Severe arthritis the best treatment is Joint replacement surgery(we use hiflex rotating platform design which has good track record around 20-25years)
5. Usually patients get good pain relief and are able to do all their routine work in 2 to 3 months and the benefits usually last for 15 to 20 years(if there are not other complications)
