Dr. Abdul Salam is one Coimbatore’s leading ortho specialist. His passion for orthopedics started with his entry into Medicine into MMC (Madras Medical College).
He then passed out with multiple distinctions in orthopedics from KMC (Kilpauk Medical College).
His special interest in trauma care and Sports Medicine took him to the UK where completed his surgical training in Joint replacement surgery and Sports medicine at the prestigious University of United Kindom. He completed his MRCS (Member of Royal College of Surgeons) from Edinburgh.
He then went to the USA and completed further specialty training in Orthopaedic Trauma surgery and Limb Lengthening and reconstruction surgery.
Dr. Salam has been trained by some of the top authorities in orthopaedics around the globe. In the USA, Dr Salam worked with Dr. Seligson and Dr. Roberts who are pioneers and well respected in trauma surgery.
He was also trained by Dr.Dror Paley and Dr.John Herzenberg who are world famous surgeon in Limb lengthening and reconstruction.
Dr Salam is the first ortho doctors in Coimbatore to have performed a complex height enhancement deformity correction using computer assisted Taylors Spatial frame in Coimbatore.
He has operated on two patients whose height were 145 cm and increased their height by 15 cm ( 6 inches) without complications. Both patients have achieved full recovery and are back to college
Dr Salam also performed a highly complex forearm lengthening for a child born with congenital short forearm. He has performed several hip reconstruction surgeries for children born with dysplastic hip.
He was personally trained by Dr. John Herzenberg , in Ponseti correction for club foot correction and had treated several children with club foot in India with this technique without complications.
Dr Salam has also saved the lives of 10,000’s of patients at One Care Medical Center, a 100 bedded ortho hospital that he started to make orthopaedic treatments highly affordable for all. Dr Salam has also performed and rehabilitated the lives of numerous patients who have suffered complex fractures and trauma.
He is an expert in joint replacement of both the knee/hip and has performed 1000’s of unilateral and bilateral joint replacement surgeries for patients very successfully
